(A sponsored Abseiling Event in Aid of Tower Repairs)
About St.George’s is popularly known as the ‘Cathedral of the Feldon’, being the grandest church in the Warwickshire ‘field land’ south of the river Avon. The building, which dates from the 12th century, is 162ft (49m) long and 57ft (17m) wide with a tower 120ft (36m) high. Although the church is very large for ordinary parochial use, it has a special quality of light and holiness that reflects the affection of Brailes folk of past and present generations.
Why The current phase of work to restore the stonework on the tower at St George’s is at a cost of over £75,000, and this is just the start. Repairs to the stonework are also needed to other parts of our magnificent Grade 1 listed church building. This is a rare, possibly unique, opportunity to experience the amazing views and exhilarating experience of descending the tower by abseil, and helping to raise money to ensure that the tower can remain a local and treasured landmark. Abseilers will be allocated a time for their descent to cut down on waiting times and for the convenience of those whom they wish to invite as witnesses.
How to Enter To take part as an abseiler download and complete the Registration Form. Submit the registration form on-line to tim.rimell@btinternet.com or in hard copy to the Forge Garage, High Street, Lower Brailes. Payment of £50 should be made using the link or QR code below. Increase the funds you raise by enlisting sponsors from amongst family, friends and clients using the Sponsorship Forms. Completed Sponsorship forms, along with any cash collected, should be returned online or in hard copy no later than 6 October.

Spectators If abseiling is not quite your thing and you prefer to watch others at it, you will be most welcome to join as a spectator at any time during the day. You may care to select a time to witness someone, whom you have sponsored, earn the money that you have donated so generously.
