Brailes Village

Brailes Show Weekend – 8th / 9th August – Save the Dates!

This year’s Brailes Show is already shaping up well with a host of new faces on the organising committee bringing fresh skills and enthusiasm.
The traditional show and Dog Show will be on 8th August this year with the Horse Show running again on the 9th.

So far the attractions planned include, a pedal vs parkour demonstration, have-a-go circus skills, a rural area complete with sheep shearing and our very own village blacksmith, the flower and produce competitions tent, the speaker’s tent ( Paddock Farm have already stepped up to share their story and plans for the future!), zorbing, a static vehicle display, vintage lorries and living vans, fairground complete with organ and displays from hobby enthusiasts. There will also be the retail village, local charity and community stalls, raffle, bottle tombola, plants, second hand books and clothes and archery.

Refreshments currently planned include the essential village teas and cake, a well stocked bar, fish and chips, pizzas, hot dogs and burgers, jackets potatoes, filled rolls, crepes, ice cream and more! The entry price will be maintained at £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

The core committee are getting all the ducks in a row and will need help from the village to deliver the event. If you scan the QR code below you’ll be taken to a short form to tell us how you will contribute this year. Many hands will make this year’s show lighter work for everyone so please do volunteer.

If you’ve helped in the past, please do still complete the form so we can start to get everyone’s details in one place, rather that in numerous different telephones and in people’s heads!

If you have ideas for other things you’d like to see please do let me know on 07794339867.

Brailes Show – Update

6 October, 2025

Brailes Village

Following a lovely wash-up meeting where we discussed the feedback from this year’s show, the core committee were delighted to be able to award funds totalling £12,225 to local causes; these are detailed below.

Thoughts are already turning towards Brailes Show 2026 which will be on 8th August.

To enable the show to take place in 2026, more people are needed to refresh and boost the core committee.

If you’d like to find out how you can play your part please give me, Katie, a call or a message on 07794339867 and we can have a chat.

Once again a huge thank you to the committee this year and to each every person who played their part in such a great day.

Brailes Show 2025: Thank You!

Brailes Village

Brailes Show once again welcomed the crowds to our lovely village and demonstrated what community effort can achieve

As chair I’d like to say an enormous thank you to the core committee without whom the show simply would not happen – they’ve been just brilliant. Hours of work go into the show across the year behind the scenes from these community heroes and their enthusiasm to keep going has kept me going as chair this year.  And beyond them thanks to all the other folk who have done their bit to support either in advance or on the day of the show.Brailes Show once again welcomed the crowds to our lovely village and demonstrated what community effort can achieve.

At this point we can report that income for the 2025 show looks in the region of £23k and we look forward to finalising costs so we can share the net proceeds with the Parish.

If you are a not for profit organisation in the Parish of Brailes or Winderton and would benefit from a share of the proceeds, please send an email to me at ka***************@*****il.com and the committee will agree the distribution of the funds as soon as we are able.

The next show will be 8th August 2026 and new committee members will be welcomed to help continue the success of this lovely village event.  Experience combined with new faces on the committee keeps the show very much alive and kicking!

BRAILES SHOW 2018

Brailes Show needs help……

Following on from the most successful 2017 show we are now starting to plan and organise the 2018 Show but are needing some key roles to be filled, can you help…..

Treasurer – A very important and essential position.  You do not have to be an accounts wizard for this role, just being able to use a computer, enjoy counting money, and be organised!!!  The role is varied and for most of the year just involves reporting to the committee the current balance and paying bills or banking but the week prior, Show Day and a few days after is more involved then of course its producing a simple set of accounts for the Annual General Meeting.   If you would like some further information give Vanessa a call on 685371 or e-mail ne********@********et.com

BBQ Co-ordinator – one of our bigger money earners is the Show BBQ which runs during the day.  We are looking for somebody who will organise this for us.

Gate Co-ordinator – Organising a rota of volunteers to take the entry money from the show visitors.

Or if you would like to join our committee and help plan and organise the Show you would be very welcome, we particularly would like some of the younger members of the community to join us to bring us fresh ideas to help us keep the Show a family day out for all ages.

If you would to know more, please contact Vanessa on 685371

or e-mail ne********@********et.com

Brailes Show AGM needs you!

Come along on Tuesday 14th November 7.30pm in the Pavilion.

Some of our existing committee have stepped down this year so we are looking to fill the following areas: Treasurer (ideally this would suit a couple), Secretary and a Gate Co-ordinator.  Could you fill one of these positions?  Or maybe you would like to help in another area, whatever your skill we always welcome fresh faces and innovation ideas.  The Committee start to plan the next show in January and meet once a month.  If you would like to know anymore about what involved speak to any of the Committee or call Vanessa on 01608 685371.  Thank you
