Sustainable Brailes: August News

Welcome to August and after three heatwaves (and possibly counting), you may still be looking for ways of keeping cool.  Please remember the wildlife. In times of drought try and leave out a saucer of water for the birds and hedgehogs that might wander by. If you’re chopping anything back, try to leave it for shelter for insects if you can or use leaves as a mulch to help prevent ground evaporation.

Or by the time you are reading this it might have reverted to endless August rain.  We hope the weather has settled, it’s more comfortable and less extreme.

Brailes Show 2025 – We will be in the Pavilion with secondhand clothes, books (novels only please) and plants.

We will be there on the morning of the show to accept donations of good quality adult clothes, your last great read novel (or more) and any plants you’d like to share.   And if you’ve got an hour or so, can you help us on the day?  For any queries, please email us.

Repair Cafe 6th September – 10-12 The Pavilion ‘Harvest’

As our theme is harvest.  Please feel free to bring your surplus crops to the cafe and we’ll make sure they get used.  We hope to have all the regulars at this bi-monthly Repair Cafe. We generally offer small repairs of clothing along with advice, minor repairs of any objects brought in and also bicycles.   We’re hoping to have the PAT testing organised and ready to go by this session.  Watch out for more news via social media and the September edition.

Thank you!
